James Bond And His Jauntily-Built Vehicles Over The Years

  • Post category:Blogs

We take a look back at more than fifty years of James Bond and his sleek spy-like cars. Don’t be surprised if several of the actors portraying 007 throughout the years seemingly have a different idea of luxury, however. (We excluded Timothy Dalton and David Niven for reasons classified by MI6.)

Sean Connery

In The Films

Easily, one of the best Bonds of all time, Connery carried his class and style into every vehicle he vaulted into. From the Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinger and Thunderball to the Bentley Mark IV in From Russia With Love, you could never forget that wry wink in his windshield.

In Real-Life

By 90, the actor had in posession a 1964 fiberglass Jensen C-V8. It also has a capability to top 130 miles per hour. An unforgettable ride was last seen on sale for £135,000 in 2018. You can read more about the vehicle here.

George Lazenby

In The Films

An Australian actor by the name of Lazenby was no laze at all. He took the Aston Martin DBS about for a go-around. It was in this car that Bond’s wife would be swiftly shot through the windshield, unceremoniously.

In Real-Life

He was only in that one Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret, which ironically enough, was his first film acting. So beyond that, he drives a 4×4 Mercedes SUV. Nothing flashy but he’s likely a rational man.

Roger Moore

In The Films

Arguably the oldest of the Bond boys to ever be a Bond, Roger Moore was 45 when they filmed Live and Let Die. Since then, Moore’s sported more motors than any Bond before. The AMC Hornet from The Man with the Golden Gun, the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II from A View To Kill and even the Lotus Esprit Turbo, which went underwater.

All I know is that I really want to buy that Tuk Tuk from a crazy scene in Octopussy.

In Real-Life

Roger Moore would go on to own other impressive cars. Such vehicles like the Jaguar XK150 to a Volvo P1800 would be among his prime choices.

Pierce Brosnan

In The Films

Maybe the most recent Bond, to my memory at least, Pierce Brosnan helped bring James into the world of advancing technology. And his cars were no different. A BMW 73 from Goldeneye, a BMW Z8 from The World Is Not Enough and a Ford Fairlane from Die Another Day.

In Real-Life

The actor best known for starring in that Goldeneye 64 video game, keeps it on-brand with a BMW 750i. The car has black interior and blacked-out windows. Fun Fact: A gift from the Bond producers when Brosnan retired burnt up in flames. A custom Aston Martin V12 Vanquish did indeed Die Another Day in February 2015.

Daniel Craig

In The Films

The current Bond who has made skid-marks with his remarks about the franchise has stuck strictly to Aston Martins. Just as his predecessor Sean Connery would’ve preferred. These include the Aston Martin DBS V12 and Aston Martin DB5 from Casino Royale, the Aston Martin V12 DBS from Quantum of Solace, the Aston Martin DB5 from Skyfall and the Aston Martin DB10 from Spectre. Connery would be proud.

In Real-Life

Daniel Craig sold his 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Centenary – only 100 made – but ended up with an even better treat: designing his own car. He chose the trim, color and materials of an Aston Martin DBS. This retails for a cheeky $700,007 USD and is being sold through Neiman Marcus. With a 715 horsepower twin-turbo V12 engine, you can’t lose.
