EVERGREEN, Colorado – After a nine-hour standoff with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and a SWAT team, a man is in custody in Evergreen on Wednesday morning, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance inside a home in the 29000 block of Pine Road around 1 a.m. Three victims were able to leave the home with minor injuries before the suspect barricaded himself inside the home.
One of the victims was able to leave the house and call 911 from a nearby home, officials say.
Authorities believe the suspect had a sword inside the home.
A SWAT team broke in the property around 10 a.m. and arrested 30-year-old Daniel Charles Roberts.
The sheriff’s office believes it was his own home.
Roberts is facing charges of second-degree assault and domestic violence, he also violated an order of protection had a previous warrant out for his arrest for a trial violation.
No nearby residences were an evacuated during the incident.
The suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries while being taken into custody.
