According to Forbes Magazine, Denver is one of the best places to live in the United States. It has a lot to offer, including sports, outdoor activities, dining and a great downtown area.
Surprisingly, one of the best places to live in the country has the lowest level of job satisfaction in 2016, according to a study recently conducted by Indeed Hiring Lab. The survey results show that Denver has the highest percentage of unsatisfied workers – even higher than Detroit.
Madison Holloway, professor in Metropolitan State University of Denver, thinks that the situation can be a result of workers wanting to get what they want fast and not being able to do it. Young people want too much and too soon, and not getting it makes them impatient and disgruntled.
The survey demonstrates that the top reasons for the dissatisfaction are the balance between life and work and job security. The job market has always been fluctuating in Denver, so it is not seen as a factor affecting the job happiness index.
People say that if you are not happy with your job, maybe it is time to go and find another one. But maybe it also means that you have to learn to be patient, while not forgetting to take everything life has to offer – especially in a city like Denver.
Maybe since it is a “great place to live” people there expect their job to be that great as well. The thing is..work is work. People need to buckle down and do their job. If they aren’t satisfied..truly then look for another but put the time and effort into enjoying where you are…everyone has ups and downs.
I’ve never been to Denver, so I’m not really sure why they would be any more dissatisfied with their jobs than others places. I wonder if it’s because they’re in such a gorgeous and wonderful place that they’re depressed they have to work. Probably not, haha, but you never know.
